Veronica
Chail is the Host of the new show “In Toronto”
on Rogers TV. I am delighted to have Veronica’s participation
as a torso volunteer.
A
journalist, actor, and TV host, Veronica’s interests
span a wide variety of areas, from the arts, to equity issues,
and women’s issues. It came only natural for Veronica
to participate in the Chest of Hope project.
While
creating her cast, Veronica shared her love of ethnic designs
and exotic foods. With her multicultural background, I have
decided on a design with an Eastern flavour.
The
gold smalti on her torso form a swirling, decorative design,
bordered by coral vitreous tiles, and crowned by turquoise
glass beads. To me, these swirling lines also symbolize Veronica’s
many interests and talents; individually, they can stand on
their own, but together, they form a harmonious composition.
As a balance to the shimmering effect of the glass and gold,
the background consists of unglazed ceramic tiles and a few
vitreous glass tile accents for highlights. Some areas of
the torso borders are adorned with turquoise and dark brown
designs to form a decorative pattern and lead the eye around
the artwork.
It
was an honour to present the Chest of Hope project on Rogers
TV and reveal Veronica’s torso mosaic during the show.
Veronica is a wonderful host and it was a pleasure to chat
with her on “In Toronto”.
Thank you, Veronica, for supporting the Chest of Hope project! |
